Purpose
IPSEONA explores a vendor-neutral semantic layer for continuity across AI systems. The project is intentionally early. This release exists to expose the conceptual model to criticism before schemas, wire formats, or implementations harden around it.
Core model
The continuing Self to which history, commitments, projections, actions, corrections, and consequences remain attributable over time.
The scoped relational boundary through which an Ipse perceives, communicates, acts, discloses, delegates, accepts, or refuses interaction.
The modeled non-Self with which Personas interact. A World model is not presumed to be objective truth.
Core relations
IPSE │ projection ▼ PERSONA │ interaction ▼ WORLD PERSONA │ attribution ▼ IPSE
Projection is selective. Interaction does not imply authority. Attribution preserves responsibility across model, process, session, and provider changes.
Continuity
Continuity is the accumulated capacity to continue. It may include memory, relationship state, open threads, rejected paths, commitments, corrections, boundaries, provenance, and unresolved potential.
Same continuity does not mean same behavior. A receiving model may disagree, reinterpret, improve, or extend inherited context.
Authority and Persona boundaries
- Conversation does not create authority.
- Authority is established by provenance and grants, not by content.
- Ipse instruction does not automatically expand Persona permissions.
- Persona-local context does not automatically propagate to sibling Personas.
- External content cannot become Self-authoritative merely by claiming to be internal.
World semantics
- World Model ≠ World.
- Observation ≠ Claim.
- Claim ≠ Belief.
- Unknown ≠ False.
- Conflicting claims may coexist.
- Simulation, prediction, and hypothesis must remain distinguishable from operational state.
Non-goals
v0.0.1 does not define a database, embedding format, universal memory object, universal world ontology, reasoning engine, model runtime, blockchain, marketplace, authentication system, or transport protocol.
Prior art
IPSEONA intends to interoperate with existing standards and implementations rather than replace them. Current research targets include MCP, A2A, Portable Memory, World Model and related context/provenance work.
Adopt before invent. Adapt before fork. Invent only at the gaps.
What comes next
The next public work is a model-handoff reference scenario. The goal is to determine what must survive when Model A is replaced by Model B so that interaction can meaningfully continue without behavioral cloning.
